Jury Convicts Man of Sexually Assaulting, Battering Child in Saline County

HARRISBURG – A Saline County jury Friday convicted a man of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and two counts of Aggravated Battery of a Child following a two-week trial.
According to Saline County State’s Attorney Molly Wilson, the evidence at trial proved that in January 2018, 24-year-old Tyler D. Lewis bit, burned, and sexually assaulted an 8-month-old child. Lewis left multiple bruises, cigarette burns, and bite marks all over the child’s body. The jury also heard evidence that Lewis caused tearing and bleeding injuries to the child’s mouth and genitals.
Lewis faces a possible sentence of up to 120 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He is not eligible to receive probation. Lewis must also register as a sexual predator for life.
Lewis is set to be sentenced on Oct. 30 at 9 a.m.
