MT. VERNON – U.S. Representative Mike Bost says he will be conducting a “Take Your Congressman to Work Day” at a TravelCenters of America (TA) truck stop in Mt. Vernon Monday to highlight the critical need for more safe, accessible parking for tractor trailers. Bost will be joined by representatives from bp, TA and the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO).
Bost, who grew up in a family trucking business, says he understands how difficult it can be when America’s truckers are forced to push that extra mile in search of a safe place to park.
Bost says if we expand access to parking options for truckers, we are making our roads safer for all commuters. That’s why he has introduced legislation to invest in new truck parking nationwide.
Bost is looking forward to this event bringing continued focus to this issue while highlighting the great work our truck stop operators are doing to meet the needs of our truckers.
Monday’s event will run from 2 to 3 p.m. at the TA Travel Center, 4510 Broadway St. in Mt. Vernon. That’s just off Exit 95 on I-57/64.
