Weekend Semi Fire Shuts Down SB I-57 near Sesser

SESSER – Illinois State Police responded to a semi-trailer fire on I-57 near the Sesser exit Saturday night.
According to preliminary information from ISP, ISP Troop 10 responded to southbound I-57 near milepost 75 for a report of a vehicle fire around 8:40 p.m.
A truck-tractor semi-trailer was traveling southbound on Interstate 57 when the driver noticed the rear of the trailer was on fire and pulled over to the shoulder. The entire truck became engulfed in fire. No injuries were reported.
Southbound I-57 was shut down until the truck and debris could be removed safely. All lanes reopened by 12:20 Sunday morning.
ISP says there is no further information at this time.
