Metropolis Police Report

METROPOLIS – The following information was provided by the Metropolis Police Department on Monday, July 10, 2023.
July 3, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to the Washington Park area. The caller stated that a subject was entering vehicles. Upon arrival, a Metropolis sergeant observed a door open on a blue Hyundai. Upon checking further, he observed a subject inside the vehicle going through the contents. The subject, Joshua K. Hunt, 40, of Metropolis stated that he thought it was his girlfriend’s car. The caller/owner did not give him permission to enter the vehicle. Officers then learned another vehicle had been entered. Upon speaking to that person, officers learned that Hunt had tried to enter her vehicle, but she stopped him. He then tried to enter other vehicles while she was watching and calling the police. Hunt was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Trespass to Vehicle. Hunt was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
July 4, 2023
Keith T. Willis, 48, of Paducah, KY was arrested at the Baymont Hotel. Willis was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Failure to Appear – Possession of a Controlled Substance. Willis was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
July 5, 2023
Blake A Lynch, 30, of Metropolis was arrested and charged with Endangering the Life or Health of a Child and Possession of a Controlled Substance. This is the result of an investigation started by the Metropolis Police Department. An ambulance call was dispatched of a child not breathing at a residence on Metropolis Street. During the medical response and investigation, it was discovered that the child had overdose on a pill containing Fentanyl. Lynch was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
July 6, 2023
Kelsey L. Littlemeyer, 27, of Metropolis was arrested at the Southern 7 Head Start. Littlemeyer was wanted on warrants. There were two warrants issued by Massac County for Theft. Littlemeyer was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis officer on patrol, observed Bradley D. Stoner, 32, of Metropolis standing outside an apartment at the Haven House. The officer was aware that Stoner is trespassed from the property. The officer was also aware that Stoner was wanted on a Massac County warrant for FTA-Criminal Damage to Property. The officer approached Stoner who fled on foot. A foot chase ensued. Other Metropolis officers and Massac County deputies responded to assist. A Metropolis officer caught up with him on Market Street but Stoner still tried to flee. A struggle ensued and both the officer and Stoner fell through a plate glass window at Rent 1. Both the officer and Stoner were treated at Massac Memorial Hospital for lacerations. Stoner was charged with the warrants as well as Criminal Trespass to Property, Criminal Damage to Property and Resisting Arrest. Stoner was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
July 7, 2023
At approximately 3:50 a.m., dispatch was advised that the owner of a boom truck was the Acee’s truck stop and that he had reported it stolen in Marshall County, KY. Officers located the truck at the gas pumps. Officer tried to get the occupant to exit the vehicle but he appeared to be unresponsive. EMS was notified and an ambulance was requested. Officers decided to break a window to see if CPR was needed. The occupant appeared to be faking it. As soon as the window was broken, the driver put it in gear, turned it to the right and almost struck the sergeant and Massac deputy. They jumped out of the way and the truck smashed into a Massac County squad and fled the scene. A pursuit ensued, which ended up on I-24. The truck ran out of gas at milepost 5. McCracken County took control of the scene. The driver, Thomas J Prevatte, 43, of Wegram NC, still refused to exit the truck. Pepper Balls were shot into the truck an he was taken into custody. Prevatte was charged with Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Police, Aggravated Assault (2), Criminal Damage to Government Property and Driving with a Suspended License. Prevatte was taken into custody by McCracken County. They will have additional charges to include Possession of Methamphetamine which was found in the truck. As a side note, the owner of the truck decided not to press charges for the theft.
July 8, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1900 block of Ferry. Upon arrival, a Metropolis sergeant observed Randy L. Bradley Jr., 31, of Metropolis sitting on a chair in front of the residence. The Sergeant advised Bradley that he was under arrest for warrants. Bradley then fled on foot. A foot chase ensued and Bradley was taken into custody on Ferry and 21st St. The warrants were issued by Massac County for Domestic Battery and Mob Action. Bradley was also charged with Resisting Arrest. Bradley was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Joshua D. Coontz, 45, of Metropolis was arrested at 2nd and Metropolis Street for Disorderly Conduct. Coontz was yelling and swearing at the officers while other citizens were attempting to load their vehicles at the Baymont. Coontz had been trespassed from the Baymont earlier for disturbing customers and arguing with his girlfriend and management. The officers were tied up on other calls and Coontz was upset with having to wait to retrieve his property. Coontz was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
James Cling Stevens, 41, of Metropolis was arrested at 7th and Yasoda. Stevens was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Failure to Appear – Possession of Methamphetamine. A search found a clear plastic baggie containing Methamphetamine. Stevens was charged with the warrant as well as a new charge of Possession of Methamphetamine. Stevens was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
