City of Carbondale to Hold Cedar Lake Master Recreation Plan Public Input Meeting

CARBONDALE – A public meeting is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Carbondale City Hall to discuss the latest developments on the Cedar Lake Master Recreation Plan and allow for public input from residents.
The Cedar Lake Plan document is being completed with Stakeholder groups and the City of Carbondale Staff.  Three areas will be reviewed, and development recommendations will be provided.
The recreation plan will prescribe uses and improvements for the City-owned portion of Cedar Lake. This area includes Poplar Camp Beach, the Carbondale boat launch, some existing trails, and forested open space.
The purpose of the Master Plan is to provide long-range direction to the City on the improvements and provision of parks and recreation services to residents and visitors. The Plan has been in the works since October.
The City of Carbondale encourages everyone to review the Plan and provide feedback at the Public Meeting. Comments made after the meeting should be emailed to maryjeanne@hutchisonsolutionsllc.com by Feb. 17, 2023. All comments will be considered, and an official recreation plan will be presented to the Council in March 2023.
